1

Inspired by landscape, climate and culture of Iceland, a new innovative part of town develops on the site of Reykjavik’s former domestic airport, offering its inhabitants and visitors warmth and urbanity.

3

The programme, university, hi-tech companies, bus terminal, restaurants, leisure and housing, is covered by a continuous mossy landscape, like a traditional turf hut.

4

The sheltered south side has an open character and is colorful like the existing town center. The main runway is converted into a lava strip, a heated exterior space with public functions, connecting downtown with the thermal beach.

5

Existing buildings, punched out of the landscape like pseudo craters, are used for special collective programmes.
