In our multidisciplinary design team we formulated three themes that are decisive for a successful research building. In the first place this is a solid base. Top physics we believe can only be operated in a building that meets or exceeds the extreme demands of the research. In addition, we find the theme communication & concentration is important. A building for leading fundamental research is a technological environment where the human scale is palpable. This environment has optimal research conditions, inspires the researchers and encourages interaction.

Finally, sustainability is our leading theme. Fundamental research means that boundaries are to be shifted for obtaining a better world. The concept of sustainability is inextricably linked to this concept.
